FAMOUS POET PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY'S NUTRITION LESSON
Shelley's favorite food was chopped bread in a bowl with milk and sugar. He was almost constantly ill with consumptive symptoms, eye infections, stomach and back pains, boils, moodiness, depression, bad dreams and hallucinations. In 1815 while on a boat ride with friends and wife Mary, he was forced to eat mutton chops because his normal foodstuffs were not available. Charles Claremont said,"we all felt the good effects of this jaunt, but in Shelley the change quite remarkable; Thomas Peacock said;"he rowed vigorously, was cheerful, merry, overflowing with animal spirits and had certainly one week of thorough enjoyment of life. Peacock attributed this to his diagnostic prescription of eating mutton chops!
